Governor Samuel Mathews Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century

The Governor Samuel Mathews Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century provides an annual award of $300 to a student attending one of the following institutions:

  • Central Texas College
  • Texas A&M University-Central Texas
  • Temple College
  • University of Mary Hardin-Baylor

The Governor Samuel Mathews Chapter CDXVIIC pays its award to the institution in which the recipient is enrolled during the fall semester.

Application packets for this scholarship must include the following:

  1. Completed application form (typed or printed in black ink);
  2. A current high school transcript;
  3. Two letters of recommendation; and
  4. A written narrative of not more than 500 words addressing one of the following topics:
    1. Describe what attributes and/or accomplishments in your life that illustrate your interest and ability in pursuing a college degree.
    2. What individual or event(s) led you to choose the major you have selected?
    3. Explain your career objectives and how your college plans relate to those objectives.

Note: Your essay may be either typed or written by hand. Complete your essay on a separate piece of paper and attach to your application.


The ASVAB will be administered here on campus tomorrow, April 19th, during 1st through 4th periods. If you have signed up, please report to your first period class and wait for the announcement.

If you have career center in the morning, report directly to the auditorium.

Due to the Easter weekend the deadline to mail in your scholarship applications has been extended to April 24th. Five scholarships will be awarded.

Also, employees of the school or friends who have gone back to school are eligible to apply.

Applications may be picked up in the counselors office.


  • Any senior graduating from KISD in May/June 2017
  • Accepted to a college, university, community college or trade school in Texas and enrolled as a full-time student (>12 hours) during academic year 2017-2018.
  • Children of RCKH members are ineligible

                   Students will be notified and scholarships will be awarded during an RCKH meeting


  • Copy of high school transcript including class standing and ACT/SAT scores.
  • List of personal awards, honors, recognitions and leadership positions.
  • List of scholarships received,.
  • Community service or volunteer activities.
  • School, college, or university Letter of Acceptance
  • Essay–Who or what helped you identify and develop your talents and how will you use these talents to help other people?

Note: Applicants are expected to produce an original essay using a computer and word processing program. Format is 1″ margins, single-spaced, font size 12, and style Times New Roman.
