The Barbara Jordan Historical Essay competition is open to all high school students.   Applications can be found in the Guidance Office.  1st place – $2,500, 2nd place – $1,500, 3rd place – $1,000

Juniors and Seniors are invited to attend Texas A&M University’s Student Leaders of Tomorrow Leadership Conference.  To register or find out more, visit the website: http://slot.tamu.edu or come to the Guidance Office.

Central Texas College goes on College visits and high school students can go as well.  You may pick up additional details in the Guidance Office.

The 81st Legislature passed Senate Bill 297, which requires public institutions to provide a resident tuition exemption to the dependent children of certain members of the US Armed Forces deployed on active duty in a combative military operation outside the United States.  Pick up additional details in the Guidance Office.

Seniors who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through examples such as: starting his/her own business; participating in organizations such as DECA, Junior Achievement, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Future Farmers of America (FFA) etc. can apply for this scholarship.

Senior/Parent Night

Senior/Parent Night will take place on November 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.  Ms. Verna LaStrapes from TSTC will be our financial aid speaker.  Mark your calendar for this informative meeting!

Seniors who have successfully completed at least three credits in two or more CTE courses may apply for this scholarship.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring an essay contest for seniors with good leadership qualities.  A Counselor will administer the topic to the applicants and the students will have up to two hours to complete the essay.  One student will be chosen to represent Ellison.  Contact the Guidance Office for more details.  The winner will receive $50.00

Seniors who are planning to attend Texas A&M can apply for the Texas A&M Foundation Excellence Scholarship.

Seniors who are planning to attend Baylor University  can pick up information on the Carr P. Collins Scholarhip.

Tarleton State University is sponsoring TEXAN TOUR on Saturday, November 7th.  Students can register for the event online at www.tarleton.edu/welcome or call 1-800-687-4878.

If you are a senior and plan to attend Angelo State University you can pick up information on the Carr Scholarship by going to www.angelo.edu or by stopping by the Guidance Office.

Next Step Super Teens

Seniors who are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American with a GPA of 3.3 or more and financial need can pick up information online at www.gmsp.org, or in the Guidance Office.

Do you like to write essays?  All high school students are invited to enter the Fleet Reserve Association Essay Contest.  You could win a grand prize of $10,000.  Write an essay on “What Memorial Day Means To Me”.  Pick up details in the Guidance Office.

Seniors interested in attending The University of Kansas can pick up information on music scholarships in the Guidance Office.

Sophomores and juniors interested in the Bioscience Institute need to come by the Guidance Office to sign up for required testing for entrance into the program.  You must be currently enrolled in Algebra II and Chemistry or have successfully passed them.  See your counselor for more information.  Testing will begin November 3rd.

Boston University

Seniors planning on attending Boston University can apply for the Trustee Scholarship Competition.  For more information contact the Guidance Office or go to www.bu.edu/admissions/trustee

Students interested in attending the Conference in  College Station can pick up additional information in the Guidance Office.

Seniors can apply for the Dr. Seuss Essay contest.  First place winner receives a $5,000 scholarship!

Seniors who are planning to attend St. Edward’s in Austin may be eligible for a scholarship.  Stop by the Guidance Office for information.

Pitt University

Seniors who are planning to attend Pitt can register to attend a Saturday Visit by going to www.oafa.pitt.edu.

The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9-12.  Record a 3-5 minute essay & you could be the winner of a scholarship!  Details are available in the Guidance Office.

Dartmouth
