Interested in attending SAIC?  They will be having a presentation on Sunday, December 13th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Austin Museum of Art.  If you would like to attend you must register at www.saic.edu/ugevents.

Are you the dependent of  an active duty, reserve/guard or retired military member, or a survivor of  a military person?  If so, please stop by and pick up an application form for the Commissary Scholarship.  The scholarship application is also found online at www.militaryscholar.org.

Are you a senior with a 3.0 or higher and planning to major in engineering?  You could qualify for the Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship.  Pick up an application in the Guidance Office.

December Guide:  The December Guide is available to seniors through English classes, on the Counselor website & in the  Guidance Office.  There is a lot of helpful information for seniors as well as many scholarship opportunities.

The American Legion has scholarship and financial aid information  and you can print a FAFSA application as well,  all at www.legion.org/needalift.

Deca Scholarships

Are you a senior who belongs to DECA?  Pick up a scholarship booklet in the Guidance Office.

Texas A&M Society of Women Engineers is sponsoring a Conference on February 12th & 13th.  It is open to all male or female high school students especially those interested in math, science, or engineering related fields.    Additional information can be picked up in the Guidance Office.

LULAC Scholarship

Seniors who have financial need may apply for the LULAC Scholarship.  Pick up an application in the Guidance Office.

Excellence in Writing

N.I.E  Newspapers in Education is sponsoring an essay scholarship  and will be awarding scholarships totaling $13,000.  This year’s topic: Should young people be allowed on social networking websites?  More information is available in the Guidance Office.

Students interested in taking summer courses at Oxford can pick up information in the Guidance Office.

The Killeen Retired Teachers Association awards scholarships to Killeen ISD graduating seniors and Killeen ISD campus aides who are taking college hours to become teachers.  More details and applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Sophomores and Juniors who are interested in taking Dual Credit classes next school year through Central Texas College on our campus can sign up to take the Accuplacer Test.  Seats are limited so drop by the Guidance Office and sign up as soon as possible.

Dependents of an active Bartlett Electric Cooperative who have a 90 average can apply for the Lawrence Karl Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Juniors and Seniors whose parents are members of the Bartlett Electric Cooperative or an employee of the Bartlett Electric Cooperative  are invited to enter the 2010 Government-in-action Youth Tour Contest.  You could receive an all-expense paid trip to our nation’s capitol in Washington D.C.  Applicants submit an application & essay.  More details are available in the Guidance Office.

Seniors who have a 3.0 GPA can apply for this scholarship.

Seniors can apply for one of  four Ronald McDonald Scholarships.  Pick one up in the Guidance Office or apply online at www.rmhc.org.

The Barbara Jordan Historical Essay competition is open to all high school students.   Applications can be found in the Guidance Office.  1st place – $2,500, 2nd place – $1,500, 3rd place – $1,000

Juniors and Seniors are invited to attend Texas A&M University’s Student Leaders of Tomorrow Leadership Conference.  To register or find out more, visit the website: http://slot.tamu.edu or come to the Guidance Office.

Central Texas College is taking students and parents on  a tour of  the University of Texas on December 11th.  Interested students and their parents are welcome to sign up for the tour.   Simply call Greg Griffith at 526-1667 for more information.

The 81st Legislature passed Senate Bill 297, which requires public institutions to provide a resident tuition exemption to the dependent children of certain members of the US Armed Forces deployed on active duty in a combative military operation outside the United States.  Pick up additional details in the Guidance Office.

Seniors who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through examples such as: starting his/her own business; participating in organizations such as DECA, Junior Achievement, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Future Farmers of America (FFA) etc. can apply for this scholarship.

Seniors who have successfully completed at least three credits in two or more CTE courses may apply for this scholarship.

Seniors are encouraged to apply for the Omicron PI Chapter Omega PSI PHI Fraternity Scholarship.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring an essay contest for seniors with good leadership qualities.  A Counselor will administer the topic to the applicants and the students will have up to two hours to complete the essay.  One student will be chosen to represent Ellison.  Contact the Guidance Office for more details.  The winner will receive $50.00

Seniors who are planning to attend Texas A&M can apply for the Texas A&M Foundation Excellence Scholarship.

Seniors who are planning to attend Baylor University  can pick up information on the Carr P. Collins Scholarhip.

Tarleton State University is sponsoring TEXAN TOUR on Saturday, November 7th.  Students can register for the event online at www.tarleton.edu/welcome or call 1-800-687-4878.

If you are a senior and plan to attend Angelo State University you can pick up information on the Carr Scholarship by going to www.angelo.edu or by stopping by the Guidance Office.
